4 Flu Fighting Foods

There’s nothing more annoying when the flu or an illness, gets in the way and derails your training and diet progress.
I swear it seems like a new bug or illness is ‘going around’ each week.
Personally I like to think I look after my body well and that’s why I very rarely get ill.
Exercising regularly, getting plenty of sleep and most importantly a healthy diet is what I put it down to.
If you eat healthy, and include a lot of micronutrient dense foods, then you’re going to boost your health (and immune system) and you’ll feel and look good.
When people go on these low-calorie diets, they often end up being ill and this is why! They get very little goodness in their diet and their body crashes!

The main purpose of this article is to give you a list of 4 foods which will help to boost your immune system and help your body battle all the germs off.
Eating these to prevent illness is better than dosing yourself up on tablets and meds when you’re already ill.
  1. Ginger – Contains potent chemicals work help to suppress coughs and fight colds.
  2. Garlic and Onions – these foods help ward off bacteria and viruses, and also give a massive flavour hit to your food
  3. Citrus fruits – The high levels of vitamin C in citrus fruits helps to fight off cold symptoms. Oranges, grapefruits and kiwi fruit are super.
  4. Sweet potato – Delicious whatever you decide to do with it, whether that be boiling it, mash it, roast it or bake it. Rich in virus fighting beta-carotene.
Other foods to eat which will help too:
  • Fish
  • Mushrooms
  • Brazil Nuts

I hope this helps you fight the flu!

Be sure to include these foods in your everyday diet, and never miss a day from the gym.
